Falcon's Eye Theatre brings American Night: The Ballad of Juan José to Stage Two! This laugh-out-loud, irreverent play follows an immigrant, Juan José, who is frantically trying to study for his citizenship exam, when he falls asleep. Over the course of one riotous night, he has a fantastical dream, leading him on a wild journey through American history. Written by Richard Montoya, with a mash-up of historical figures, contemporary characters, and satirical situations, this play provides a fresh and humorous look at the American Dream.

What to Prepare
Monologue Audition: Auditioners MUST prepare a contemporary comedic monologue that is no more than 60 seconds long from a play. No teleplays, screenplays or passages from novels or song lyrics will be accepted. No original writing. The monologue should best portray the actor’s strengths. Monologue must be memorized.
Optional Vocal Audition: Prepare 32 bars of your choice that highlights your vocal range. Bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. If you would like to be considered for roles that sing, please prepare a vocal audition.
Headshot and Resume: These are requested, though not required. Bring 8x10 headshot and a resume outlining training and performing experience for acting, dancing and singing.
Callbacks
Call back auditions will be will be held Thursday January 30 from 6:30-9:30pm by invitation only. Those who are called back will be given readings. Some people called back will also be provided music selections from the show. Therefore it is advised to be familiar with the play American Night.
Rehearsal/Performance Dates
Rehearsals will be from February 11– April 3, 2025. Typically, rehearsals will be from 6:00pm – 10:30pm Mondays and Wednesdays, and 10am-4pm on Saturdays. Additional rehearsals might include weekdays, and/or weekend days/nights. Minor conflicts with these dates are permissible. Be prepared to provide your complete calendar of availability at the first audition. Tech/Dress Rehearsals are March 27– April 3, 2025.
Performances are April 4 - 19, 2025. Performance calendar will include Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Subject to change. These dates are not optional. Attendance is required. School excusals are available for conflicts with classes for performances.
