Auditions for Treasure Island

The Falcon’s Eye announces an open call to students and community members to audition for Ken Ludwig's thrilling adaptation of Treasure Island. Based on the masterful adventure novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, Treasure Island is an unforgettable adventure of treachery and mayhem featuring a host of legendary swashbucklers. At the center of it all are Jim Hawkins, a 14-year-old boy who longs for adventure, and the infamous Long John Silver, an unscrupulous buccaneer-rogue whose greedy quest for gold, coupled with his affection for Jim, cannot help but win the heart of every soul who has ever longed for romance, treasure and adventure.

Audition Dates: February 11, 2013, 6:30 pm.   Auditions are held on a first-come, first-served basis.

Audition Location: Auditions will take place in the Drama Lab (PAC-1170) of the Three Stages Performing Arts Center on the Folsom campus of Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway (off E. Bidwell St.), Folsom, 95630. On College Parkway, turn left at the stop sign. One dollar parking permits are available at kiosks located throughout the parking lots. See the map for more information.

Auditioners MUST prepare a monologue that is no more than 90-seconds-long from any classical play.  Please no teleplays or screenplays or passages from novels or song lyrics. Also, please no original writing. This monologue should best portray the actor's strengths and can be of any genre.  This monologue must be memorized.

Auditioners who are called back will also be asked to audition by way of cold readings from the text.  Auditions and call-backs are expected to run until approximately 10pm each night. It is requested that Auditioners bring an 8x10 photo-headshot and resume of acting experience, if available, but this is not required.

Callbacks: February 12 and 13, 6:30pm, by invitation only.

Rehearsal Dates: Approximate dates and times are February 25 through April 18, 2013, evenings and some weekend afternoons. Minor conflicts with these dates are permissible.  Significant conflicts with these dates are not allowed.

Performance Dates: April 19 through May 5, 2013, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. Additional performances are Saturday, April 20, at 2pm, Thursday, April 25, at 7:30pm, Friday, November 26, at 10:00am, and Friday, May 3, at 10:00am.  Performances will be held at Three Stages at Folsom Lake College in Stage 2, the City Studio Theater.
